מהמרכז הרפואי אורורה נמסר בהצהרה כי העובד הודה ביום רביעי כי הוציא בכוונה ביום שבת האחרון 57 בקבוקונים של חיסון נגד קורונה של חברת מודרנה ממקרר בית מרקחת. "אנו יותר מאוכזבים מכך שפעולותיו של אדם זה יביאו לעיכוב של יותר מ-500 איש בקבלת החיסון שלהם", נמסר בהודעת החברה. "זו הייתה הפרה של ערכי הליבה שלנו, והאדם כבר לא מועסק אצלנו".
החשיפה למקרה ביום רביעי הגיעה לאחר שהבדיקה הראשונית של החברה ייחסה את האירוע ל"טעות אנוש לא מכוונת". לדברי הרשויות המקומיות, המרכז הרפואי אורורה לא גילה מניע אפשרי למעשיו של העובד. ה-FBI והאנשי ה-FDA היו מעורבים גם בחקירה, החיסונים שהושחתו יועדו לעובדי שירותי הבריאות במרכז הרפואי אורורה. העובד צפוי לעמוד לדין.
